UKRAINIANS WORLDWIDE MOVEMENT MANIFESTO – Ukrainian University Club

The imperialist war launched by the Russian Federation against Ukraine and the Ukrainian people brought total ruin and genocide to Ukraine, millions of Ukrainians were forced to leave their homeland and become refugees. A situation has arisen in which the vast majority of Ukrainians live outside the territory of Ukraine. Under these conditions, the creation of the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement initiated by us as a public organization, not connected with any state body of any country, becomes especially relevant.

Ukrainians Worldwide are Ukrainians who live on the territory of modern Ukraine, Ukrainians who live on Ukrainian ethnic lands as part of countries adjacent to Ukraine, as well as Ukrainians of the diaspora who live scattered in other countries of the world.

Ukrainians Worldwide have never been united in a single organization in their entire history.

Now, when the development of an independent Ukrainian State has faced further obstacles in the processes of modern Ukrainian nation-building and state-building, and when Ukraine and Ukrainians are faced with the threat of destruction, we are creating the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement.

First of all, this Movement should unite the efforts of Ukrainocentric aristocratic families, the intellectual elite and the most active passionate part Ukrainians Worldwide as a nucleus around which the entire Ukrainians Worldwide will rally.

The goal and mission of the Ukrainian Worldwide Movement is to become the driving force of systemic structural changes in Ukraine and the development of Ukraine as a successful, rich and flourishing state and an active player in world politics.

Tasks of the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement:

— rallying efforts to influence nation-building and state-building processes in Ukraine;

— consolidation of efforts of Ukrainians abroad to influence public opinion and the governments of their countries of residence in order to increase the effectiveness of their cooperation with Ukraine and Ukrainian society, etc.

The UWM will encourage and support the participation of its members in state authorities at various (local, regional, national) levels.

The UWM will conduct public events and campaigns, carry out educational, informational, cultural, human rights and other types of activities aimed at realizing its mission and achieving its goal.

Membership in the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement is individual. Any Ukrainocentric citizen of Ukraine, a citizen of a state adjacent to Ukraine, which includes Ukrainian ethnic lands, as well as citizens and permanent residents of Ukrainian origin of other countries where Ukrainians live as a diaspora, as well as self-identified stateless persons can become a member of the Movement. Ukrainians, regardless of their political views and beliefs and affiliation to any other public and political organizations.

Individual membership will make it possible to implement the democratic principles of organization and management of the Movement and processes with its participation. Through direct electronic voting, the UWM will be able to elect leaders both in Ukraine and in the diaspora, who will fully represent the interests of Ukrainian society, Ukrainians abroad, and therefore the entire Ukrainians Worldwide.

Such an approach will enable the effective influence of Ukrainians Worldwide on the nation-building and state-building processes in Ukraine, as well as on the support of the sovereignty and territorial integrity of Ukraine by the countries in which the UWM will have powerful organizations.

Aware of the civilizing mission of Ukraine, the UWM will actively act as a promoter, and eventually as one of the leading forces of security and cooperation in the world, and primarily in Europe. In this regard, the UWM will consistently condemn terrorism, oppose the “Russkiy mir” and debunk Russian historical myths that deny the right of the Ukrainian nation to exist and to create its own sovereign state.

The main conditions for joining the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement are:

— Ukrainocentrism;

— command of the Ukrainian language, at least at the everyday level, and the desire to learn it;

— supporting the idea of Ukrainization of Ukraine and raising the level of national consciousness and civic maturity of Ukrainian citizens;

— support for the idea of changing the authoritarian-totalitarian Soviet social system in Ukraine to a social system based on Ukrainian national traditions and customs, etc.

Collective membership in Ukrainians Worldwide Movement is not envisaged. Any Ukrainian organizations in Ukraine and Ukrainian diaspora can cooperate with the Movement through their members, who acquire individual membership in UWM, and support the Movement as sponsors without any obligations of the Movement towards them.

The Ukrainians Worldwide Movement as a permanently structured organization will be formed from primary centers that will unite or grow into organizations at the district or city, regional or national levels.

The Organizing Committee, as a coordinating body, takes over the management of the UWM formation processes before the convocation of the Constituent Congress or Constituent Assembly of the UWM. The Constituent Congress or Constituent Assembly of the UWM will be convened after the Organizing Committee of the UWM registers a sufficient number of individual members and branches in Ukraine and countries with relatively large Ukrainian diasporas, which will enable proper representation from Ukraine and Ukrainians abroad.

In this role, the Organizing Committee:

— will accept applications for individual membership in the UWM;

— will accept founding protocols for registration of primary centers, district, city, regional, national organizations in Ukraine, local, regional and national organizations on Ukrainian ethnic lands in the jurisdictions of countries adjacent to Ukraine and in the countries of settlement of the Ukrainian diaspora;

— will establish and ensure cooperation with various public organizations in Ukraine and in Ukrainian diaspora;

— will represent the UWM in the relations of the UWM with state authorities in Ukraine and countries of compact residence of Ukrainians outside of Ukraine;

— will perform all other tasks of ensuring the activities of the UWM.

The Organizing Committee chooses the song “Oh, in the meadow red viburnum” in its classical arrangement as the anthem of the Ukrainians Worldwide Movement, and the flag is a golden-skyblue cloth with the emblem of the UWM in the middle. (On this occasion, we invite artists-designers to take part in the competition to create the emblem of the UWM.)
