МЕДАЛЬ ФІЛДСА З УКРАЇНСЬКОЮ ПРОПИСКОЮ
Нобелевська премія ніколи не вручається математикам. Такою була воля Альфреда Нобеля – шведського вченого, винахідника (у тому числі — динаміту), філантропа. Свої статки він заповів на Нобелевські премії видатним фізикам, хімікам, літераторам, представникам інших галузей.
Чому ж до цього переліку не увійшли математики? Відповідь проста: дружина Нобеля пішла від нього саме з математиком, то ж це свого роду помста вченому за подружню зраду. “У моєму випадку стріли Купідона отримали нерівноцінну заміну на артилерійські гармати”, — написав пізніше Альфред Нобель.
Але, на щастя, існує Медаль Філдса – аналог Нобелевської премії саме для математиків.
Каролина Ашион: «На світлині — українка Марина В’язовська, випускниця КНУ ім. Шевченка, яка декілька днів тому отримала Медаль Філдса.
А тепер – поїхали:
— Україна ніколи не була лауреатом Філдса.
— Це супер престижно.
— Вище цієї нагороди в математиці нічого не існує.
— Премію вручають раз на чотири роки.
На відміну від Нобелівської премії, її присуджують за сукупність робіт.
Від початку своєї Незалежності Україна вперше отримала таку високу нагороду в області науки.
Це найвище досягнення.
Премію Марина відправить на допомогу ЗСУ.
За всю історію вручення нагороди (майже 100 років) це вдруге, коли її отримала саме жінка.
Залишається два запитання:
1. Як так сталося, що в Україні ця жінка з діамантовими мізками має лише звання кандидата наук?
2. Чому власне досі немає привітання від президента?
Чому так часом виходить, що переможців Євробачення знає вся краіна, їх вітає перша особа держави. А людину, за мізками якої полює увесь світ — ні, не чули… Якесь дикунство… Час перепрошивати мізки. Бо ми ж кандидати самі знаєте куди”.
Що ж, панове, хочеться нагадати нашому гарантові прописну істину: успіх чекає лише на тих, хто правильно розставляє пріоритети. Цей вислів стосується як конкретної людини, так і держави в цілому.

FIELD’S MEDAL WITH UKRAINIAN REGISTRATION
The Nobel Prize is never awarded to mathematicians. Such was the will of Alfred Nobel — a Swedish scientist, inventor (including dynamite), philanthropist. He bequeathed his fortune to Nobel Prizes to outstanding physicists, chemists, writers, and representatives of other fields.
Why are mathematicians not included in this list? The answer is simple: Nobel’s wife left him with a mathematician, so this is a kind of revenge of a scientist for adultery. “In my case, Cupid’s arrows received an unequal replacement for artillery guns,” wrote Alfred Nobel later.
But, fortunately, there is a Fields Medal — an analogue of the Nobel Prize specifically for mathematicians.

And now — let’s go:
— Ukraine has never been a Fields laureate.
— This is super prestigious.
— There is nothing higher than this award in mathematics.
— The award is given once every four years.
Unlike the Nobel Prize, it is awarded for a body of work.
Since the beginning of its independence, Ukraine has received such a high award in the field of science for the first time.
This is the highest achievement.
Maryna will send the prize to help the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
In the entire history of awarding (almost 100 years), this is the second time that a woman has received it.
Two questions remain:
1. How did it happen that in Ukraine this woman with diamond brains only has the candidate of sciences title?
2. Why is there still no greeting from the president?
Why does it sometimes happen that the whole country knows the winners of the Eurovision Song Contest, they are congratulated by the head of state. And the person whose brains the whole world is hunting — no, they haven’t heard… Some kind of savagery… It’s time to reflash the brains. Because we are candidates, you know where to go”.
Well, gentlemen, I would like to remind our guarantor of a well-known truth: success awaits only those who set their priorities correctly. This expression applies to both a specific person and the state as a whole.

Пропонуємо нашу відповідь на запитання, поставлені у тексті:
«Як так сталося, що в Україні ця жінка з діамантовими мізками має лише звання кандидата наук?»
Нічого дивного у цьому немає. Україна продовжує триматися за двоступеневу систему атестації наукових кадрів, яку вона успадкувала від УРСР/СРСР, яка не виправдує себе і яка тільки відбирає час учених.
Приклад «цієї жінки з діамантовими мізками» підтверджує, що не обов‘язково мати ступінь доктора фізико-математичних наук, щоб підніматися на найвищі вершини світової науки.
Україна має перейти на стандартну для цивілізованого світу систему атестації кадрів вищої кваліфікації.
«Чому власне досі немає привітання від президента?»
Це — традиція ставлення політиків і урядовців незалежної України до науки і до вчених, як і до інтелектуальної еліти в цілому.
Проблема, однак, не тільки в президенті й уряді незалежної України. Проблема — в самій інтелектуальній еліті, яка в масі своїй залишається рудиментом колоніальної ментальності і яка, за старою радянською традицією, не усвідомлює своєї самодостатності і, відтак, своєї місії в українському націєтворенні й державотворенні.

We offer our answer to the questions posed in the text:
“How did it happen that in Ukraine this woman with diamond brains only has the candidate of sciences title?”
There is nothing surprising in this. Ukraine continues to cling to the two-stage system of certification of scientific personnel, which it inherited from the Ukrainian SSR/USSR, which does not justify itself and which only takes up the time of scientists.
The example of “this woman with diamond brains” confirms that it is not necessary to have a doctor’s degree in physical and mathematical sciences to climb to the highest peaks of world science.
Ukraine should switch to the standard for the civilized world certification system for highly qualified personnel.
“Why is there still no greeting from the president?”
This is the tradition of the attitude of politicians and government officials of independent Ukraine to science and scientists, as well as to the intellectual elite as a whole.
The problem, however, is not only with the president and the government of independent Ukraine. The problem lies in the intellectual elite itself, which in its mass remains a rudiment of the colonial mentality and which, according to the old Soviet tradition, does not realize its self-sufficiency and, therefore, its mission in Ukrainian nation-building and state-building.
